Bad-driving-can-hurt

I am a second-grader at Copper Canyon Elementary School, and I have lived in my neighborhood for my whole life. When I was little, someone drove down my street and was not paying attention and drove up on the curb in front of my house. Their truck hit one of our trees and broke the trunk right in half. They never stopped and kept going. My mom and dad were very scared because they thought that tree could have been me or one of our neighbor’s kids. Last month, there was a man hurt by a car one day after school. This man has been our school crossing guard for three years. He helps all the kids get home from school safely and is a really nice man. Every day when we see the crashed fence and shed my mom and I miss the crossing guard and hope that he’s OK. We are also glad that no kids were hurt. Then last week our neighbor’s cat got ran over and killed. The person who hit their cat never even stopped. The people whose cat it was were very sad. I get very worried when my niece plays at our house because I don’t want her to get hurt by cars because some of them drive so fast that they wouldn’t see her. These things that have happened make me sad and I really wish that people would drive safe all of the time because bad driving can hurt.
