Sidewalk sale
In conjunction with Fridays on Vine, the Tooele Downtown Alliance is asking downtown merchants to stay open a little later this Friday and Saturday in support of a cooperative Downtown Sidewalk Sale. The sidewalk sale will go from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Ladies pool league

Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Tooele have new open recreation hours which will begin on Monday, Aug. 27, at the Dow James building, 438 W. 400 North. It serves all youth ages 6-18. The Teen Center is also open Tuesday through Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the Tooele Youth Center, 102 N. 7th St. which serves all teens 13-18 years old. The membership fee is $10 per year. THS class of '67 reunion
The Tooele High School class of 1967 will hold its 40-year reunion activities over Labor Day weekend. A gathering is planned for Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m., in the pavilion located at the first flat in Settlement Canyon. It will be a casual evening of visiting and listening to oldies music. There is no need to pre-register your attendance for this activity. A golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, at 8 a.m., at the Oquirrh Hills Golf Course. This will be an 18 hole shotgun scramble. A dinner is planned for Saturday at the Eagle's Nest, Tooele Army Depot at 5:30 p.m. It will include dinner, dancing, a remembrance of the deceased classmates and a salute to those classmates who served in the military. Elementary orchestra/band
Elementary orchestra and band will be offered again this school year. The Tooele and Stansbury elementary schools will attend programs at THS (East, West, Northlake and Harris) or Clarke N. Johnsen Jr. HS (Middle Canyon, Copper Canyon, Overlake, Rose Springs and Stansbury). The Grantsville Elementary students will attend band at GHS and orchestra at Grantsville Elementary School. Both beginning and intermediate orchestra and band will be offered in all programs. Classes will be held before school, at 7:30 a.m., in the band and orchestra rooms at Tooele High School, Johnsen Jr. HS , GHS band room. Class will be after school at 3:30 p.m., in the GES AV room. Beginning orchestra and band will begin on Wednesday Sept., 5, at 7:30 a.m.; intermediate orchestra and band will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 a.m. (GES beg and int class starts Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m.)

The First Baptist Church in Tooele is offering a clothing closet and emergency food pantry to help meet the needs of our community. Anyone with clothing needs, adults and children, are welcome. Adult religion class
The Tooele, Utah Stake is sponsoring an Adult Religion Class with the topic: "Lectures on Faith, Page I." Classes will be Wednesday evenings beginning on Aug. 29 through Nov. 28. The instructor is David A. Christensen, former instructor for the University of Utah Institute. The class will be held at the Tooele LDS Institute building, 65 S. 200 West, Tooele from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration will be held the evening of the first class, and the cost for the course is $16.25 or $2.50 per class.

Library closed
The Tooele City Library will be closed the week of Aug. 14 through 18 for inventory. No books will be due during this time. The book drops will be checked each day. We will reopen to the public on Aug. 21.
Books for sale
Tooele friends of the library bookstore, through August we have hardback books for 50 cents, a good selection of large print books, and many children's books for 25 cents. Hours are Tuesday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday 1 to 7 p.m.

English as a second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. ESOL students may come anytime the center is open for Individualized study with our software programs and textbooks. The book fee is $25 per semester.

A Utah Hunter Education Class will be held at the Grantsville Fire Station. Classroom dates are Aug. 16, 21, and 23. The shooting test is Aug. 25.
