Harvest Days
The Harvest Days craft fair and flea market at the Benson Grist Mill will run every Saturday through Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone who makes hand-crafted items or has yard sale items is welcome to bring these goods to sell. Veteran clothing drive
DWS is hosting a winter clothing drive for homeless veterans. Donations will be distributed to veterans at the annual Veteran's Stand Down in November. Items needed include: warm coats (XL, XXL), jeans, long sleeve shirts, socks, hats, gloves, boots and thermal underwear. Drop off donations at Tooele's DWS, 305 N. Main St., Suite 100. Domestic violence awareness
Join us for a candlelight vigil, "Walking Together for Tooele County Domestic Violence Awareness," in honor of domestic violence victims and survivors on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. Meet at Janna's Java on the corner of 400 North and Main Street. We will walk to the Veteran's Memorial Park. Candles will be provided by the Tooele County Domestic Violence Coalition. If you have any questions, please call 843-3429.
Grantsville
Punt, Pass and Kick
Pepsi's NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 3 to 6 p.m., at GHS football field. Boys and girls ages 8 to 15 are invited. Winners advance to the sectional competition in Tremonton. Then winners from the sectional advance to the Denver Broncos game for the next level of competition. This is a great opportunity. TSHS Community Council
Tooele South High School Community Council will be meeting Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., in room 4 of South High. All students, parents and interested community members are invited to attend. Grantsville Junior High
Grantsville Junior High School parent/teacher conference and school community council meetings are set for Thursday, Sept. 27. Student progress reports will be given out at the door from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. and teachers will be available until 7 p.m. GJHS is looking for parents to serve on the school community council for the 2007-2008 school year. The first meeting will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. We will be looking for volunteers to serve on the Booster Club committee, the Trust Lands committee, and the School Improvement committee. Book sale
The Friends of the Library Bookstore will be selling hardback books for 50 cents and paperback/childrens books for 25 cents through September. Hours of operation are Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. We recently purchased $2,300 in new books and books on tape for the library.

AARP Safe Drivers class
AARP Safe Drivers class is being offered to all drivers 50 years and older. The class will be held at Mountain West Medical Center on Sept. 27 and 28, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day. Automobile insurance discounts are available for everyone 55 years and older with a good driving record. The certificate will be awarded after attendance of both days of the class. Adult Education
Get your high school diploma this year! All classes required for a high school diploma, adult basic education, GED preparation, word processing, driver's education and English as a second language are available. Register now to graduate -- just $35 per semester. The center is located at 76 S. 1000 West, and can be reached at 833-1994. Adult education classes are for students 18 and over.

Adults learn to drive
A driver's education course for adults 18 and over will begin Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., at 76 S. 1000 West. The class includes 18 hours of classroom instruction and 12 hours of driving and observation. Register from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $175 (current students receive a $70 discount).
English as a second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. ESOL students may come anytime, the center is open for individualized study with our software programs and textbooks. Registration is $35.00 per semester.

"The Little Mermaid" performance
Local youth performers will be presenting "The Little Mermaid" on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at 3 and 7:00 p.m. The performances will be held at Tooele High School Auditorium, 301 W. Vine St. Tickets will be available at the door for $3 per adult, $2 per child or $10 per family. This event sponsored by Tooele City. The First Baptist Church in Tooele is offering a clothing closet and emergency food pantry to help meet the needs of our community. Anyone with clothing needs -- adults and children -- are welcome. Visualized Bible Study
Starting Oct. 3, the Visualized Bible Study Series will be presented at the Tooele Church of Christ. Each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. lasting about an hour with discussion afterwards. This series will help one to understand the message of the Bible clearly. It will also help one to see the three divisions of the Bible, and how God speaks to us today through it. No charge, no pressure.
