FFA-Ag-Mechanics-Team

Members of the Grantsville FFA Chapter received first place in the agriculture mechanics career development event (CDE) held at Utah State University, March 18-19.

Andrew Beckett, Nolan Blackhurst, Mark Christensen and Kyle Gregory combined their skills to make the winning team. Their advisors are Grant Peterson, Ed Johnson and Nichole Carter.

Members of the Grantsville FFA Chapter showed expertise through a correct analysis of industry, energy, structural, environmental and mechanical systems. They were judged on their ability to perform hands-on activities as a team as well as individually. Beyond the practical skills, Grantsville FFA members demonstrated their knowledge of mechanics by earning top scores on a written examination.

The team will continue to develop their knowledge and skills of agriculture mechanics as they prepare to compete for the national title at the 81st National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Ind. in October.

By participating in the agriculture mechanics career development event, members of the Grantsville FFA chapter personally demonstrate the National FFA motto, by "learning to do" and "doing to learn."

The Grantsville chapter is one of 66 FFA chapters in the state of Utah. The mission of the Utah FFA Association is to make a positive difference in the lives of 3,992 members by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.
