Name: Teddy Maddox
From: Logan
To: Tooele
When starting a new family, young parents sometimes have a hard time becoming independent from their own generous parents. For Teddy Maddox, it was finally time to branch out on his own.
Teddy Maddox, 24, his wife Janice, 23, and their 18-month-old son Garrett, moved from Logan, to Tooele, two months ago when he received a job offer in Salt Lake City.
They were looking for a promising city, and a place where they could live on their own.
"We had been very dependent on our families in the past, and we wanted a chance to give them a break," Maddox said.
He had heard good things about Tooele from a few of his friends who live here, and he decided that it would be a good move for his family.
"Tooele is just close enough to where my family lives that we can still see them often," Maddox said, "but this way we aren't dependent on them."
The Maddox family loves the atmosphere of Tooele, and are very happy with the way the city has welcomed them.
"We have never felt more at home, and this city is living up to our expectations of it," he said.
One event that the family is are excited about in Tooele is the opening of the Cold Stone Creamery.
"I haven't had a good Cold Stone ice cream in a long time, and it's my wife's favorite place to get ice cream," Maddox said.
Despite loving the move to Tooele, Maddox said his family does miss one thing about Logan.
"We do miss our old home and our property," he said. "Our new home will just take some getting used to."
