She was known for her excellent talent in sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts. Many of her treasures she made were given to friends and family. She also donated many of her workings to the Catholic Ladies Auxiliary bazaars.
She joined the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Joseph Parish. Phyllis was a faithful member of the Ladies Alter Society and assisted them in many callings. In earlier years she also was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Phyllis met her dear friend and companion Lou Arano through the church and spent many wonderful hours attending church gatherings, going to dinners and just sitting around sharing each other's company.
