Robert (Bob) and LaRue Nielson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. An open house given by their children will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., at Speirs Farm, 394 W. 200 South, Tooele. All friends and family are invited to share in this special celebration. Robert was born and raised in Richfield and LaRue in Manti. They were married on Sept. 20, 1957, in the Manti Temple, shortly after Robert arrived home from Denmark from serving a 2 1/2-year LDS mission. After his graduation from Utah State University, they moved to Tooele where he taught at Tooele High School for over 30 years. They were in their 45th year living in Tooele when they moved to Nephi three years ago to be close to their children. They are the parents of five children, Glade (Mary) Nielson, Gary (Lauren) Nielson, Liesl (Jason) Garrett, all of Nephi, Russell (Sherry) Nielson of Ephraim, and Melissa (Scott) Olsen of Manti. They are the grandparents of 19 grandchildren (expecting the 20th in January) and seven great-grandchildren. They will all be present for the celebration except three grandsons who are serving LDS missions.
