Six TC United soccer teams competed in the 23rd annual Utah Summer Games in Cedar City on June 11-14. Five of the teams came home with a bronze or silver medal showing their toughness against teams of all levels from Utah.

You can see two adult bald eagles -- and their two baby eaglets --- during free field trips in June. The Division of Wildlife Resources will host the field trips on Thursday, June 26 and Saturday, June 28.

Real Salt Lake settles for tie against San Jose

Real Salt Lake had finished celebrating what they thought was a goal by midfielder Kyle Beckerman in the 72nd minute of their Wednesday night 0-0 game against the San Jose Earthquakes. After flags waived, fans cheered and players hugged, the head referee, Jasen Anno, reversed the goal saying Beckerman was offside and the goal would not count.

The Salt Lake Bees are officially half way through the 2008 season. Their 5-4 loss against the Las Vegas 51s at Franklin Covey Field on Monday night brings their Pacific Coast League best record to 44-26.

GHS, THS rodeo clubs compete in state finals

Cowboys and cowgirls from the Grantsville and Tooele rodeo clubs competed in the Utah High School Rodeo Association State Finals June 11-14 in Heber. The competitors rode, raced and roped their way for a shot at competing in the National High School Rodeo in Farmington, N.M., on July 20-26.

The Utah High School Rodeo Association State Finals attracted young riders and ropers from every corner of the state last week, including local rider Ethan McNeill who swept the competition in the bareback event garnering a first place finish and an invitation to the national competition.

Grantsville Legion stays loose for a come-from-behind win over Logan

Having plenty of reasons to be discouraged after finding themselves down six runs, Grantsville Legion stared a big lead in the face. Determined to stay loose and battle back, the Cowboys scored 10 runs in the final four innings to pull off a miraculous 10-7 come-from-behind victory against Logan on Saturday at GHS.

Tooele County is home to some of the state's best sports teams. But, a sport that is left out of the mix is the paintball team Eternus Doxa, a semi-professional sponsored team, which has won and placed in several tournaments and leagues in the past year.

The alignment for 2009-13 was finalized yesterday by the Utah High School Activities Association determining where Utah's high schools will fall within classification and region. Much of the decisions were made based on geography so schools were clustered together because of their classification and location.

Tooele High School hired Ray Groth as their new head football coach on Monday morning. The decision was made after former coach Sam Elliott resigned on May 12 to coach at Union High School in Roosevelt.

The Tooele County Giants, a special Olympics team, competed in the state track and field meet at Brigham Young University on May 29-31 bringing home 33 medals from 11 competitors.
