Grantsville's Dustin Durfee and Austin Killpack both qualified to participate in four events this Friday and Saturday at the 3A state track championships at BYU.

Durfee qualified in the 110 high hurdles, 300 hurdles, 400 meters and 200 meters. Killpack qualified in the 100 meters, 200 meters long jump and javelin.

Jessica Collings and Ashley Bartlett each qualified in three events. Collings will run the medley relay, 400 meters and 800 meters. Bartlett will compete in the 100 hurdles, long jump and high jump.

The girls medley relay team of Alyssa Roberts, Collings, Rachel Topham and Lorin Killpack qualified for the state meet with a time of 04:30, which was nine second faster than their previous best. Topham will also compete in the 400 meters.

Sammie Jensen qualified in the 100 and 300 hurdles and Ashlie Warr will throw the javelin.

Thrower Collin Thompson will compete in the javelin and shot put while Mitch Shumway qualified in the javelin and the 110 high hurdles. Ty Davis will run the 300 hurdles. Austin Gumucio qualified in the long jump.

As a team at last week's region meet, the Grantsville boys placed fifth with 73 points and the girls finished fifth with 59 points. Morgan boys won the meet with 124 points and the Ogden girls prevailed with 158 points.

Durfee finished first at region in both the 110 hurdles (15.17) and the 400 meters (49.62) He placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time 39.17.

Killpack placed first in the javelin with a toss of 156.08.5 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.10. Gumucio jumped 19 feet 4 inches to place fourth in the long jump.

For the girls, Sammie Jensen won the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.05. Grantsville was strong in the 400 meters placing second and fourth. Collings finished second with a time of 59.90 and Topham was fourth at 62.86. Collings also placed third in the 800 meters at 2.25.

Bartlett won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 4 inches and was second in the high jump crossing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches.
