Fishing ideas
The Utah Division of Wildlife would like fishermen to tell them what they think of current fishing regulations and offer suggestions before the regulations for 2009 are finalized. "2009 is still a long ways off, but our biologists need time to determine how practical and biologically sound each idea is," says Drew Cushing, warm water sport fisheries coordinator for the DWR. "They would like to receive your ideas before June 4. Then they'll do the work needed to decide which ideas will work." Fishermen can email comments to DWRComment@utah.gov or mail their ideas to Sport Fisheries Coordinator, Division of Wildlife Resources, Box 146301, Salt Lake City, UT 54114-6301.
Expect fast race
Will Utah be the fastest? That's the $64,000 question as American Le Mans Series teams ready themselves for the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix presented by the Grand and Little America Hotels this weekend in Tooele County. For the first time, the field will compete on the 3.048-mile, 15-turn perimeter circuit at Miller Motorsports Park for the fourth round of the 2008 season. And indeed, some in the paddock believe this will be the fastest venue in Series history. The fastest lap recorded in Series history is 135.353 mph set by Allan McNish last year at Road America. The first two Le Mans races at MMP were run on the perimeter circuit with its 24 turns and 4.5 miles which slows down the cars. But there is one hindrance that could keep the track from entering the record books. It sits approximately 5,500 feet above sea level which makes the air less dense and results in reduced engine power.
Game times
The next two games in the Utah Jazz -- Los Angeles Lakers series will tip off at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday's game in Los Angeles can be seen on TNT. Friday's game in Salt Lake City can be seen on KJZZ or ESPN. If a seventh game is necessary it will be held in Los Angeles with tipoff time to be determined. That game would be televised by TNT.
