Many find moving to Tooele County a rural experience, often speaking of the sage brush and cattle, but for newlyweds Adam Frandsen and his wife Paige, the Tooele Valley wasn't too different from their hometown of Arborfield in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The two married right out of prep school and continued on to Centennial College in Toronto. Adam earned a degree in business and after graduation he had the choice of being placed in a job in Canada or venturing off to the United States.

"I had visited Minnesota once or twice in my childhood and I really liked the culture of America," said Frandsen. "I just had to choose the United States."

Frandsen started working for Overstock in Salt Lake City, but when searching for housing in the city Frandsen wasn't impressed with anything he saw.

"I grew up in a very small town where the population was less than 500," he said. "I went to college in a big city and really missed my wilderness area. I had to have some space back. We found Stansbury 20 minutes outside of my work and it was just what we had in mind. The housing was very well priced and I still have all the hiking, fishing and boating I had back home."

The two moved in early May and don't have many complaints about the area.

"It gets pretty warm here and I am excited for the snow," Frandsen said. "It's definitely not as green here either, but that's what I get for moving to a desert. I'll probably never see a moose walk through my backyard either."
